Tidewater Drillers Scholarship

The Tidewater Drillers Scholarship Program provides grants to student-athletes who have been accepted to an accredited college or university and who were active members of the Tidewater Drillers organization during their elementary, middle, and/or high school years for a minimum of two full seasons.

The scholarship program reflects the Drillers’ commitment to supporting players beyond their playing years by recognizing dedication, leadership, and academic achievement.

Scholarship Funding

Funds for the Tidewater Drillers Scholarship are raised through Foundation-supported fundraising efforts, including the organization’s annual golf tournament, which helps invest in the future of Drillers student-athletes.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following general criteria:

  • Acceptance to an accredited college or university
  • Participation in the Tidewater Drillers program for a minimum of two full seasons
  • Membership during elementary, middle, and/or high school years

Grant Criteria

Scholarship grants are awarded based on a holistic review of each applicant, including:

  • Length of service within the Drillers organization
  • Value and contribution to the organization on and off the field
  • High school grade point average
  • Extracurricular activities

Grant Details

All scholarship grants are awarded for one academic year. Applicants may reapply for additional years based on the length of their involvement with the Drillers program, up to a maximum of four years.

Application Requirements

New Applicants

New applicants must submit an essay or letter of request as part of their application. Letters of recommendation and supporting documentation may also be submitted. The essay/letter must include:

  • Number of years and age divisions played as a Driller, including positions played
  • A statement describing what the applicant gained from being a Driller
  • Academic and personal goals for college

Renewal Applicants

Applicants seeking renewal of a scholarship should submit an updated letter of request that includes:

  • Academic accomplishments in college (including current GPA)
  • Athletic involvement in college, if applicable
  • Extracurricular activities during college
  • Any continued involvement with the Tidewater Drillers organization

Review & Selection

The Tidewater Drillers Board of Directors reviews all scholarship applications and determines the awarding of financial aid grants.

Application Deadline & Submission

The deadline to apply for a scholarship grant is June 15. Grant recipients will be notified of their award by June 30.
